RESS Prez vote: February 16-17 | RESS VP/BoD vote: March 8-9
RESS Elections are coming up and now’s the time to get involved! This year elections are being run a bit differently, though, so here’s part of what was sent to me to describe it:

This year we are doing things differently. There will be two votes: one period to vote for the president followed by a period for voting for VPs and Directors. This encourages more competition for the presidency and ensures that qualified candidates are not locked out of VP candidacy by running for president. You are encouraged to read the calender enclosed to gain a better understanding of how this will work. We will be accepting VP and Director nominations immediately, but the deadline for those occurs after the presidential results are announced.
The image above links to the timeline, and all forms are or will be available in the documents section of this website. Good luck to those running, and for everyone else, make yourself heard!
Hey Everyone! The Science Centre has an upcoming event for those who admire the work of one of the earliest and most famous engineers and inventors: Leonardo Da Vinci. It’s this February 2nd and will be broadcast live through Facebook (and put up on Youtube afterwards). Click the image to the left for details.
The following is a message from our best broseph Qasim about a conference he organized:

In 2011, with over 500 delegates from 20+ schools
nationwide, CUTC was the biggest and best undergraduate technology
conference in Canada!
For the first time in history, CUTC is going on a Tour!
The conference will be situated in the heart of Toronto at RYERSON
UNIVERSITY on February 4th, and will reach students across Ontario for one day of amazing
speakers and competitions.
THIS YEAR we are featuring hard-hitting speakers such as Allen Lau,
Co-Founder & CEO of Wattpad, Winston Mok, Co-Founder of Simply
Good Technologies along with John Wang of Deloitte.
Not only will the speakers blow your mind, but the competitions will test
your skills in the tech world, allowing you to use your entrepreneurial
drive in competitions featuring Deloitte and the Next 36! Meet and network
with other passionate techys and who knows, maybe you will stumble on the
next big idea!
The Ryerson Engineering Student Society is subsidizing 20$ for all Ryerson engineers! That’s right you can attend the conference for cheaper but wait there is more! On top of the 20$ reduction, you receive an additional 10$ off using the promocode: CUTCTor12 . Please note that the RESS subsidization is dependent on you as a delegate submitting a report after the conference to their office. They will then refund the 20$ to you for the conference!
Are you Game?
Cost: 40$/delegate (Use Promocode: CUTCTor12 for 10$ off)
Date & Time: February 4, 2012, 8:00am
Location: Ryerson University
See you there.

You guys love writing essays, right? How about as part of a contest for money? Ontario engineering students are invited to enter an essay contest by the Ontario Centre for Engineering and Public Policy. All it takes is registration as an undergrad PEO member (which is free and doable here) and some of your fantastic writing to enter. The prize is a $500 award and registration to the centre’s 2012 Public Policy Conference. More information is available here. Good luck!
