The Career development centre is looking for a second or third year student for an on campus job!
These will be work-study positions, so all interested parties must be work-study approved for the positions before a job offer can be made. Work-study applications open the week of August 22nd.

Job Title: Blogger
Max hours/week: 8-10
Wage: $12.00/hr
Responsibilities include:
- Weekly write content relevant to students /programs in your faculty for blog at http://thejobspot.ryerson.ca
- Encourage, and respond to, comments and inquiries from students on the blog
- Find appropriate content from other campus blogs to add
- Capture and edit photos as necessary
- Promote the blog to students and course unions and educate students on ability to contribute to the blog
- Interview a variety of people on/off campus to contribute to the blog
- Use social media tools to promote blog
- Participate in mandatory training and weekly team meetings
- Update records of new content to the blog
Skill / Technical Requirements:
- Good communication (especially written) and interpersonal skills
- Time management
- Self Management
- Problem Solving
- Accountability
- Experience with MS Office & Excel
- Basic html
- Social Media Usage – Twitter / Facebook
Students interested in being a vlogger (i.e. video blogger), instead of a blogger, are also welcome to apply. However, you must have own your equipment.

Job Title: Outreach Assistant
Max hours/week: 10-15
Wage: $11.50/hour
Responsibilities:
- talking to people one to one or in large groups/audiences
- responding to student questions/comments about the Career Centre
- update students in the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Science of upcoming workshops and events they should attend and why
- update course union of Career Centre activities
- assist other team member in reaching outreach goals
- distribute promotional materials when required
- assist at career fairs
- use technology to survey and/or attract students
- attend, participate/contribute at mandatory training and regular team meetings
- collect and enter data on outreach efforts

Previous knowledge of the Career Development & Employment Centre is an asset.

Fellow Engineering Students, it’s time for the Ryerson Engineering Competition 2011!
There are cash prizes exceeding $10,000, and winners will represent Ryerson University at the Ontario Engineering Competition, all expenses paid.
The competition is on the 21st and 22nd of January, 2011. There will be six different categories, open to ALL Undergrad Engineering students:
Junior Design (Years 1 & 2)
Senior Design (Years 3 & 4)
Consulting Engineering
Innovative Design
Engineering Communications
Parliamentary Debate
Every student is limited to a maximum of ONE competition only. Deadline to register is January 8, 2011.
