RED Club Meeting Thursday

March 26th, 2013 RED


The event will be the first official meeting of the Ryerson Entertainment Design (RED) club with prospective members from all and any faculties. Past, present, and futures projects will be presented to students to give an idea of RED entails. Students will have a chance to take a firsthand look at some of the works, Shrill tower and Zipper, and the affiliation with the THRILL lab. There will be a brainstorm session to punctuate the necessity for interdisciplinary collaboration required to create the fantastic rides that we see, and take for granted some times. We will also be getting into the first official project involving animatronics that day.

The event will be held in KHS 143 in the common area and THRILL lab for introductions and presentations. It will start at 4PM, however, students who can’t make it till a later time are still welcome to attend when they are able. If there are any questions or concerns please email info@redclub.ca.

Super Hero Charity Pub Night

HOWDY Y’ALL!!!!!!

RESS (Ryerson Engineering Student Society for those of you who live under a rock) is throwing a super hero themed pub night this friday for charity. The charity you may ask? SHINERAMA!!!! Shinerama is a student run charity through Cystic Fibrosis Canada to help in the research of finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, a disease that affects the lungs. Third year Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Couse Intention info session

As you all know, Course intentions for Fall 2013/Winter 2014 should be completed by March 28th.

RECESS and CUBE are hosting an event which will aid you in your course intentions, and will make your decision easier in selecting a specialization in the fields of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical engineering.

Graduating students and teaching assistants will be providing you with information, tips and advice about the many courses offered in the Fall 2013/Winter 2014 semesters.

The event is taking place on Thursday March 21st in EPH201 from 6pm-8pm.

Norman Esch Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award

There are only 10 days left to apply for your chance at one of approximately 45 different awards ranging from $5,000-$25,000.

If you have innovative idea for products, inventions and technologies that are relevant to the Canadian economy, we encourage you to apply to The Norman Esch Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Awards.

There are three different categories (or stages) that you can apply to, based on how advanced you are in the ideation/ development process:

Stage 1: Interaction Award ($5,000): if students have an idea but need to map out a plan or determine potential market demand.

Stage 2: Development Award ($8,000): if students need time and funds to develop a business plan and/or create a prototype.

Stage 3: Market Readiness Award (up to $25,000): if a student’s idea is at the pre-commercialization stage but they need funds to take the final steps.

RESS AGM on Tuesday, motions due Monday

Are you not happy with anything around campus? Do you have anything you would like to say? Well, then this is the perfect opportunity for all engineering students to participate and bring up topics that have not been brought up before. Enlighten, Ryerson Engineering Student Society, and the Department of Engineering with problems you have experienced around campus.

Ryerson Engineering Student Society is hosting their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday March 12th. The focus of the meeting will be dealing with policy and constitution changes. All engineering groups, teams and students are highly encouraged to participate. Keep in mind that every year, a part of your tuition goes towards RESS so make sure you get the most of your money by giving your input at the AGM.

The motion submissions deadline has been extended to 12pm in the RESS office or they can be emailed to vpadmin@ress.ca
